Sorry this took a month, but the past month has shed some light on this. We for all intents and purposes are there now. We challenged for the Big 12 title and practically won the championship against the Number 2 team in the nation on national tv. We have a Heisman trophy Candidate, All-American, Bronko Nagurski, Lombari, and Outland Trohy winner/candidate. NU has had several national defensive players of the week, as well as the player of the year.
Of course most of those awards were SUUUH related, however Suh was crafted into the weapon he became by Bo and Carl Pelini. They have made several low caliber players great in a short period of time, and continued to do so this year (Dennard, Gomes, Compton, and Merideth come to mind).
If the question is when do we start winning N.C. again, that is a question tough to answer. Had we a decent offense, we could have won the N.C. THIS YEAR. We should never forget that. Can Bo coach up the offense like he has the defense...I believe so, however he needs to find some more talent as well as a system that he truly believes in, and that is where changes could be made, and soon.
2010 sets up very well for the Huskers, let's see what kind of off season they have and on another day I will comment on what I think they will do.

I do indeed have a PHD in Husker Football, little education in anything else. I have the experience of watching 3 national championships in person, as well as another Orange Bowl (96 against Va Tech), the Alamo Bowl against Michigan (B.C. biggest win) and more importantly every Big 12 Championship game against Texas (96, 99, 2009 doh!). I was at the Shevin Wiggns to Matt Davison kicked ball game against Mizzu in 1997, was at the final T.F. game otherwise known as the destruction of Florida, as well as the final game for Tom Osborne, Ahman Green, Grant Wistrom, and Scott Frost.
I have watched every game NU has played going back to 2006 (I missed the game against Nicholls State, wasn't even on pay-per view) and ignoring that game have seen every game since 2004. I have sources with the athletic department in Lincoln (though I rarely use them, you can find almost anything on HP), and have wasted countless hours of life learning the most trivial of the trivia to the point at which if I don't know an answer off of the top of my head, I can find it fairly quickly.
I will have to use the Udell's as references, but they can attest I am about as big a Husker Football fan as you can possibly be without being a crazy body painting looney tune, although I appreciate where they are coming from.
:0)
I hope I have made my case! | |
